The Friday night Sewing Circle girls had their first bowling lesson the Friday just gone. My friend Eric organised another mate to help him coach the 6 of us. Don't blame him for wanting some backup.
I learned stacks. They are not balls, they are bowls. We play on a green or a rink. You don't throw it with the gusto you do when you go ten pin bowling. Learned that one very early on, my first bowl flew down the green and wedged into the gutter. When a bolwer dies their leave their bowls to the bowling club they belong to them. There was a whole room filled to the brim withs sets of bowls.
We sat down while the boys explained a bit about the terchnique. We sarted our lesson at 5.00pm, 38C that day, so the condtions were harsh.
Connie and Leanne, sitting and listening in the only bit of shade available.
Andrew who is Monbulk's skip (best player in the club plays that role from what l gather) spending a bit of time with Connie. It soon became obvious that he favoured Sue and Rosemary, the two blondes in the group, maybe because he was blonde, who knows. Poor Eric got stuck with the other 4 of us.
These two were Andrew's favs, spent a lot of time with them. Maybe because Sue had decked herself out in all white. Bowlers looove white.
This was my closest shot, bowl whatever you'd like to call it. I wasn't fantastic at the game but l wasn't that bad, in fact l have been a lot worse at other sports that l have attempted.
If you ever get a chance have a go. Members at the local bolws clubs will probably be pleased to give you a quick lesson.
